KPCC seeking veterans and military reporter

apm-kpcc-opening-grab.jpgAmerican Public Media has posted an opening for a reporter on "veterans and military Issues" to sit at KPCC in Pasadena and be shared between that station and public radio outlets in Seattle and Raleigh-Durham. From the job description:

The Reporter will research, report, write and file reports for newscasts, talk shows, web and mobile platforms, social media and live events. The Reporter will contribute story ideas and be an editorial resource for other SCPR news staff.

Los Angeles is home to the nation's largest veteran population with more than 325,000 veterans. Transition to civilian life presents many challenges including; employment, housing, health and access to veterans services. The Reporter will explore how these transitions work, where public policy falls short and where it succeeds.

The position is part of a joint project with North Carolina Public Radio-WUNC and KUOW in Seattle to expand public radio reporting on military and veterans' issues. The project is funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
