Hang in there, the Apple hype is almost over (this time)

The buildup of anticipation for Tuesday's announcement by Apple about new iPhone models and a wearable computer dubbed an iWatch — with a likely role for U2 in the rollout for media and Apple fanboys — is reaching the usual level of ridiculousness. Walt Mossberg, the former Wall Street Journal tech columnist now writing for Re/Code, sort of parodies the hype and sort of joins in outside the Apple store in downtown Palo Alto. Apple.com is milking the free pre-event hysteria for all it's worth. This is the splash page on the company website right now:

One way to look at it: Prices for the iPhone5 should drop soon after Tuesday's party in Cupertino.
