Cool time lapse of the concrete pour at DTLA's Wilshire Grand

concrete-pour-timelapse-grab.jpgThis weekend's pouring of the concrete base for the Wilshire Grand Hotel turned into a fascinating dance of engineering, street-level logistics and photo ops. This time lapse video of the scene at Wilshire and Figueroa by David Leonard is the most entertaining piece I've seen.

Here's a shot of the concrete pour as it began on Saturday afternoon, from the top of the Pegasus residential building. Photo by Branimir Kvartuc.

Here's also a view of the street scene at 6 a.m. Sunday as the trucks were being processed out of the site. This photo was sent in by Allison Engel, who lives nearby and went out early to check out the scene.
