President Obama's trip to Los Angeles next week will include a stop in Glendale to deliver remarks on the economy at DreamWorks Animation. The unit's chief executive is, of course, Obama's mega-fundraiser Jeffrey Katzenberg. You'll remember that when Obama was here in August -- also in the Valley, incidentally -- he had an off-calendar dinner with Katzenberg at the Hilton in Woodland Hills. Officially, the DreamWorks stop is pegged to the economy. "The American motion picture and television industry is a growing industry and continues to create thousands of jobs all across the country," White House spokesman Josh Earnest said today.

While here on Monday and Tuesday, Obama is also due to speak at Democratic Party fundraisers at the homes of Magic Johnson, Marta Kauffman and Haim and Cheryl Saban. This trip makes up for the scheduled September fundraising visit that was delayed due to a crisis in the Middle East and talks to avert the federal government shutdown. Michelle Obama's announced trip in October was also cancelled.
