Pershing Square reenvisioned as a town square where you want to be

Town Square Los Angeles from Gensler LA on Vimeo.

The design firm Gensler, which will be taking the lead on a project to remake Pershing Square, has posted a video that shows what can be done — and why it should be done. There's room to gather, converse and play sports. There is food. They even keep the parking garage beneath the park.

They call it Town Square Los Angeles. Hat tip to downtown real estate agent/blogger Brigham Yen.

On Tuesday, Councilman Jose Huizar unveiled a task force to come up with a plan for Pershing Square. OK, it's the umpteenth plan since the city stopped calling the space Central Park. But now there is a community downtown. Nothing could be worse than the current Pershing Square.
