Obama's visit will have distinctly Valley flavor

obama-leno-file.jpgAll of the streets that the LAPD is warning drivers to avoid during President Obama's brief visit to the area today and Wednesday are out in the Valley. Obama lands at LAX about 3:30 then copters (probably) over to Burbank for a 4:30 appearance at NBC on "The Tonight Show" with Jay Leno. The president is then staying overnight somewhere in the area and departing Wednesday morning for Camp Pendleton. There's nothing about streets in Beverly Hills, so who knows where the Obama party is bedding down for the night. But the LAPD has warned drivers to avoid these intersections this afternoon, between 2:30 p.m. and 6:30:

-- Hollywood Way and San Fernando Road

-- Hollywood Way and Burbank Boulevard

-- Hollywood Way and Alameda Avenue

-- West Olive Avenue and Buena Vista

-- Sherman Way and Hayvenhurst Avenue

-- Victory Boulevard and Canoga Avenue

-- Canoga Avenue and Burbank Boulevard

And on Wednesday morning, between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30:

-- Sherman Way and Hayvenhurst Avenue

-- Victory Boulevard and Canoga Avenue

-- Canoga Avenue and Burbank Boulevard

The latter corners in Woodland Hills are about as far as you can get from Burbank and still be in the Valley. That's really scattered, and assuming the Obama motorcade does not have to drive the entire length of the Valley, or back to LAX on Wednesday, I'll predict the Obamajam potential is light.
