Politics and government

The Sept. 9 Obama fundraiser will be at the home of TV producer Marta Kauffman, and since that's in Hancock Park it raises the Obamajam threat. Meanwhile, Ron Burkle's home will be the site for a Sept. 23 fundraiser for New Jersey's Cory Booker hosted by, among others, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner, Jerry Weintraub, JJ Abrams, Michael Eisner, Ted Sarandos and Nicole Avant. Mayor Garcetti pressed his campaign that runaway production is an "emergency" in Hollywood on NBC's "Today" show. DN

Opponents of the Millennium Hollywood project plan to file a lawsuit today alleging that city officials and the developer intentionally misled the public about the health and safety impacts and earthquake risks.

More than a quarter of American households are of people living alone, and the share with a married couple is down to 49 percent, a new Census Bureau report says. "The rise of living alone is the greatest social change of the last 50 years," says Eric Klinenberg, author of "Going Solo: The Extraordinary Rise and Surprising Appeal of Living Alone." LAT
