The state Legislative Analyst’s Office told a Senate panel that the projected economic benefits of a $16 billion plan to build twin water tunnels around the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta could be wiped out by cost overruns or future water demands that are lower than anticipated. Ventura County Star

Retired LA sheriff's commander and whistleblower Robert Olmsted, 62, formally announced that he is running against Sheriff Lee Baca. Witness LA

A flash mob Tuesday night in the vicinity of the Krispy Kreme doughnut store in Burbank’s Empire Center drew as many as 3,500 people and 1,100 cars, and while no arrests were made officers did issue more than 100 citations for motor vehicle code and moving violations. City News Service

The LAPD handed out about 200 traffic citations from Jan. 1 to April 12 alone at the Palms intersection of Motor and National, where police lurk to catch drivers who turn to use the short cut through Cheviot Hills. LAT
