Claudia Peschiutta of KNX Newsradio was covering a protest over the George Zimmerman verdict last night on Crenshaw Boulevard when she was hit by a bean bag fired by an LAPD officer. She says on Twitter that she got to the scene where about 100 people were milling near the Santa Monica Freeway after police say a dispersal order was given. "Did not hear an order to disperse before I got hit," Peschiutta posted to Twitter. She originally thought it was a rubber bullet, but corrected herself:
Turns out I was hit by a bean bag. pic.twitter.com/K7KY45gpDH

The LAPD went on a modified tactical alert due to the scattered street protests last night. At her scene, Peschiutta posts, the LAPD told her some people threw things at police and the bean bags were used to control the crowd.
* Added: Claudia clarified on Twitter that she has no reason to think she was targeted: "I was not wearing my press pass & did not ID myself as a reporter so it does not appear I was in any way targeted as a member of the press."
