Rookie Yasiel Puig began the day by being named the National League's player of the week, then he went out and collected three more hits in the Dodgers' loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks. That gives Puig 16 hits in his first 32 times at bat in the major leagues: a .500 batting average. Considering that Puig is the only Dodgers hitter with a power stroke right now (he has 4 home runs and leads the team in all offensive rates), manager Don Mattingly moved Puig from leadoff hitter to the number four slot in the lineup. The Dodgers led 3-1 when starter Clayton Kershaw left the game after seven innings, but Brandon League blew another save and the Dodgers went on to lose 5-4.
