Obama's visit to LA Friday will be short

air-force-one-pictures.jpgPresident Obama will drop into Santa Monica on Friday for a Democratic Party fundraiser, but he won't be stopping into the Santa Monica High School graduation like some students hoped. The White House schedule has Obama arriving at LAX about 10:30 a.m. and leaving via Air Force One around 2 p.m. The stay is so brief that media planning to cover the president's departure need to be in place for his morning arrival and just stay put. While here, Obama will reportedly attend a DNC fundraising lunch at the home of Hollywood executive Peter Chernin. Then it's off to Rancho Mirage for a summit with China's president Xi Jinping at the Annenberg Retreat at Sunnylands. Obama will stay overnight in Rancho Mirage, the White House says.

So through the traffic congestion lens, Obama's traveling party should be gone before the Friday afternoon commute really kicks in. Obamajam forecast for this trip: Mostly sunny.
