After deliberating for a week and getting some urging yesterday from the judge, jurors today acquitted businesswoman Kelly Soo Park in the 2008 killing of model and aspiring actress Juliana Redding. The victim had dated a physician who employed Park, and the physician had a falling out with Redding's father over a business deal. After the not guilty verdicts were read, Redding's mother shouted "go to hell!" Other outbursts of "murderer!" and "travesty of justice" were heard in the courtroom.
Redding was killed five days after her father broke off business negotiations with the physician, according to prosecutors. Park and her company received more than $1 million from a company owned by the doctor, and her DNA was found in Redding's apartment, the prosecution argued. But the defense argued that the DNA evidence was inconclusive and that no motive for a crime was proven.
