Anne Knudsen, Herald Examiner photographer dies

LAO__herex.jpg
You might remember back in March when we ran a photo, and Gary Leonard followed with this one, from a reunion of Los Angeles Herald Examiner photographers at the Central Library. Anne Knudsen, one of the Herald photogs to come out of the Cal State Long Beach photojournalism program, quipped during the session about being in chemotherapy — she was bald at the time. Now comes word that Knudsen died on Sunday. She had been battling breast cancer for several years and recently it had spread. She was a single mother and leaves a teenaged daughter in Sunnyvale, in the Bay Area. I don't know her age yet. Earlier this year, the San Francisco Chronicle wrote about Knudsen (also known as Anne Baldwin) needing help to keep her family together.

Los Angeles Times writer Larry Harnisch wrote over the weekend about the reunion, and has posted her comments at his blog The Daily Mirror.
