Many journalists in Los Angeles, and many more in the LA Times diaspora, remember Marty Baron as the business editor at the LAT during the section's glory days and a contender for higher-level jobs before he left for the New York Times. Even while editor of the Boston Globe (since 2001) his name has repeatedly been linked to top job openings at the NYT and LAT. Today it was announced that Baron will succeed Marcus Brauchli as the top editor at the Washington Post after the first of the year. Jim Romenesko has the memo and links.
