Giants win their second World Series in three years

giants-celebrate-102812.jpgSan Francisco swept the Detroit Tigers four games to none to win the series — again. They beat the Texas Rangers in 2010. Tonight's win was in Detroit, in extra innings just before midnight local time.

The Giants previously lost in the World Series in 2002 (to the Angels) and in 1989 (the earthquake year, to the A's.) The Dodgers were last in the World Series in 1988, when they won the championship over Oakland.
