Another bear captured, this time in Montrose

montrose-bear-lasd.jpgOur summer of urban wildlife encounters continues. On Sunday morning, a California black bear roamed down out of the Angeles National Forest to briefly disrupt traffic on the 210 freeway and put a scare into soccer players on the field at Crescenta Valley High School. The first reports came in just before 7:30 a.m., and at about 10:30 the bear was tranquilized by Fish and Game agents at the intersection of Hermosa and Sunset avenues in Montrose. It did not have en ear tag before today. The bear was driven back into the San Gabriel Mountains and released, Fish and Game said

Before the bear was captured, residents in La Crescenta and Montrose were notified by phone tree from the sheriff's department to be aware.
