The OC Weekly has dug around and found video evidence that a blonde woman seen taunting Anaheim police during street protests this week — and throwing bottles, according to some witnesses — was earlier standing with a police line at city hall and verbally defending officers. She also reportedly showed off a tattoo of a police badge number. The protesters, and now the Weekly, suspect she was a police plant who tried to incite the later situation and trigger a crackdown by officers.
"If true, this wouldn't be the first time police were caught as plants trying to incite a riot. In 2006, a Garden Grove police officer admitted under oath during a deposition to masquerading as a protestor during a protest of Minuteman Project founder Jim Gilchrist in Garden Grove," wrote OC Weekly editor Gustavo Arellano.
The OC Weekly would like to know who she is.
Meanwhile: Anaheim city officials called Friday for an outside review of police use-of-force policies, using the FBI, US Attorney and the LA-based Office of Independent Review, "as protesters here and across the nation prepared for a weekend of marches and demonstrations against two recent police shootings."
