The Los Angeles Press Club likes to invite in celebrities to help give out the Southern California Journalism Awards each year. With the June 24 banquet at the Biltmore honoring Watergate reporting legends Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, the club lined up Martin Sheen to give them the President's Award. Sheen has been associated with Washington and politics both as an activist and as an actor who has played Watergate figure John Dean ("Blind Ambition"), John F. Kennedy ("Kennedy"), Robert F. Kennedy "The Missiles of October"), President Jed Bartlet ("West Wing") and an unnamed U.S. president ("Medusa's Child.")
Actress Pauley Perrette, best known for playing Abby Sciuto on "NCIS," is also one of the presenters. Others from the acting side will include Ron Perlman, Dan Lauria and Jodi Long. Actor Jack Maxwell is the emcee for the third year. The banquet is in the Biltmore's Crystal Ballroom, with all the old Oscars lore that suggests.
