Kings win, Clippers lose

kings-win-king.jpgThe Kings have taken a 3-0 lead in their third straight NHL playoffs and could clinch a berth in the Stanley Cup finals on Sunday at Staples Center. They beat the Phoenix Coyotes tonight 2-1.

The Clippers played in San Antonio and lost to the Spurs 105-88. The Clippers are now down 2-0 in the series and also play Sunday at Staples Center — provided the hockey game ends in time.

The Kings-Coyotes game starts at noon on Sunday, but if there is overtime — and if a Kings win triggers an on-ice celebration, handshake and awarding of a trophy — the basketball game could be delayed or postponed until Monday. In the hockey playoffs, each full overtime period can take up almost an hour.
