A radio source not currently at any LA station sent along an arch observation about the billboard that KPCC's ad firm placed over the KPFK building some months ago (and that became the subject of an LA blog flurry Monday because of some graffiti.) Facing busy Cahuenga Boulevard West, and possibly seen by some drivers on the Hollywood Freeway, KPCC's billboard might get more views each hour than the current iteration of KPFK gets listeners. During the last Christmas holiday season, from December 8 to January 4, Arbitron estimates that just 700 listeners tuned in to KPFK during the average quarter hour. That's way down from the station's historic averages, I'm told.
Among public radio stations in the Los Angeles market, KPCC was the period's runaway ratings champion. The ratings below are Arbitron's "top-line estimates" over the holiday month for Monday-Sunday, 6AM-Midnight, showing the number of listeners per average quarter hour and the weekly cumulative on-air audience in the Metro survey area.
