NBC 4, KPCC dominate the Golden Mike Awards

rtna-logo.jpgChannel 4 swept the best TV newscast awards at Saturday night's Golden Mikes -- for daytime, 30-minute and 60-minute newscasts. KPCC won nine reporting awards to clean up on the radio side. KNX won the Golden Mike for radio newscast over 15 minutes, and KFI won for the best short radio newscast.

Warren Olney, the longtime host of "To the Point" and "Which Way, L.A.?" on KCRW, was honored with a lifetime achievement award from the Radio and Television News Association of Southern California, which awards the Golden Mikes. This was the 62nd year for the awards. Tom Brokaw, a reporter and anchor at Channel 4 before he went to the NBC network, was honored with the night's Broadcast Legend Award.
