Doug McIntyre returns to KABC-AM drive time

doug-mcintyre-ocr.jpgLongtime talk radio host (and recent Daily News front page columnist) Doug McIntyre is taking over the 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. morning show on KABC 790 from Peter Tilden, starting Jan. 3. McIntyre will be paired with news co-host Terri-Rae Elmer, until this week a fixture at KFI. From Gary Lycan's column at the Orange County Register, which covers L.A. radio in more detail than any L.A. media:

The show will feature McIntyre's unique sense of humor and ability to get to the heart of the biggest stories affecting Los Angeles and Orange County," the announcement said. McIntyre was quoted, saying, "I'm excited to return to the morning drive with leading radio station, KABC. I look forward to keeping my audience informed and entertained as they wake up with me each morning."

McIntyre is no stranger to morning drive. He started "Red Eye Radio" in November of 2000, then took a five-year hiatus to host mornings from 2004 to 2009. He returned to "Red Eye Radio" in 2010 and it is now heard on more than 100 stations nationwide....

Tilden's last show will be Friday, Dec. 23. Program director Jack Silver e-mailed The Register, "We will announce plans for Peter in the coming days."

Teresa Strasser left as co-host of Tilden's show earlier this year.
