Also: Mono Lake tufa to stay open

While we're on the subject of the Eastern Sierra province of the Los Angeles empire, the state has decided to take the Mono Lake Tufa State Natural Reserve off the parks closure list. The deal involves parking fees, however. “This is the best Christmas present we could ever wish for. The state park is critical to keeping Mono Lake protected for future generations,” said Sally Gaines, Mono Lake Committee Board Chair, in a release from Lee Vining.
