KTLA anchor explains his idea for a screenplay *

FrankBuckley.jpgFrank Buckley of Channel 5 says his idea for an international thriller has been turned into a screenplay called "Portofino" by JC Chandor, the writer-director of "Margin Call." The idea grew out of a conversation Buckley had with a friend from Warner Bros. at a ballgame. "For years, I've had a secret hobby of sorts--coming up with ideas for films and TV programs," Buckley blogs. "It was a secret because it's just so cliche for non professional screenwriters to tote screenplays and treatments around Hollywood hoping someone will buy them. I did the writing and thinking but didn't do the pitching."

* My bad: My first version of this post said Buckley claimed the idea for "Margin Call." He didn't. Reading too fast...
