At least Staples Center being used for something

staples-ice-level.jpgThe Lakers and Clippers haven't come anywhere near Staples Center since last spring, thanks to the NBA lockout. But the Los Angeles Kings begin their home season tonight on the Staples ice. Arena announcer David Courtney handles both the Kings and the Clippers (as well as the Angels) and sounds happy to have a reason to finally come back Downtown. He tweets this afternoon: "My 34th Home Opener with the #LAKings tonight (23rd as announcer) & every one as exciting as the 1st! Can't wait to be a part of it!"

Moment of silence: Wives and girlfriends of Kings players will sell remembrance bracelets in the Staples Center lobby to raise money for survivors of the Lokomotiv team tragedy in Russia.
