Lynn Newcomb Jr., local skiing legend was 91

Newcomb installed the first ski lift in Southern California, at Mt. Waterman in the San Gabriels, not far from his father's roadhouse along the Angeles Forest Highway. Both are still there as private businesses within the national forest. Newcomb died Monday in Bishop.

Also: Eve Brent, an actress who played Jane in Tarzan movies of the 1950s, died in the Valley at 81.
