Harold Hayes was the editor of Esquire magazine during its heyday at the birth of New Journalism in the 1960s, and for three years in the 1980s he was the editor here of California magazine. Hayes died at Cedars-sinai of a brain tumor in 1989. Now his son Tom has a proposal up at Kickstarter for help to complete a documentary on his dad and the magazines. He already has interviews with Tom wolfe, Gay Talese, Nora Ephron, Gore Vidal, Candice Bergen and others, but he needs funding to keep going.
