Rooney, 92, will announce his exit at the end of his essay on the air this Sunday, preceded by tribute clips. Rooney has been on "60 Minutes" since 1978 and this weekend's bit will be his 1097th essay for the show. When he began, the end-of-show commentary slot was shared with James J. Kilpatrick and Shana Alexander.
