Singleton's Bay Area papers 'rebrand'

The Oakland Tribune, a fixture for decades, will now be grouped in with four other papers under one masthead: the new East Bay Tribune. It sounds as if the 12 Bay Area News Group papers will get a generic front section with national and international news, and a local section with local branding (e.g., "Oakland Tribune.") The MediaNews story announcing the changes, which come with a merging of print operations and an estimated 120 job losses, "appears to have been written by an ad agency," says media blogger Gary Scott.

No info on what this eventually means for the Los Angeles Newspaper Group.
