Romenesko to semi-retire from media aggregating

More and more of the media news posting at Jim Romenesko's site has gone up under the names of other Poynter writers. Now comes word that he will give up his full-time employee status and post part-time for Poynter, do some tweeting and launch JimRomenesko.com in January. Poynter will continue the media news aggregation site he started, rename it Romenesko+, and hire a media reporter. (Hopefully, the site will resume aggregation of Los Angeles media developments, a formerly rich area for Romenesko that Poynter has been oddly silent on in recent months.)

Regarding the reporter hire, Julie Moos (director of Poynter Online and Poynter Publications) says the person should have "a unique sensibility, an interest in setting the day’s agenda and a commitment to collaboration. If you’re interested, send me an email. But don’t call yourself 'the next Romenesko.'”

Jim started his original website Media Gossip in the 1990s and has been a full-time employee of Poynter since 1999. He lives outside Chicago.
