KNBC wins big at the Emmys

Channel 4 took home 13 awards at last night's local Emmys, including a sweep of all three regularly scheduled newscast categories. The Governors Award went to FOX11 anchor Christine Devine for her “Wednesday’s Child” work. Three Haiti stories also won: ABC 7 reporter David Ono and editor and camera operator Jeff McIntyre for their “Return to Haiti” segment, Ono for hard-news reporting from Haiti, and NBC 4 executive producer Rebecca Nieto and reporter Robert Kovacik for “L.A. Heroes: Untold Stories of Haiti.”

Mary Harris of KNBC won the outstanding news writer award for the fifth consecutive year. Other selected winners last night at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in North Hollywood:

Ana Garcia's team at KNBC won two Emmys for pieces done while she was still anchoring the 6 p.m. news.

Steve Lopez of the L.A. Times won the outstanding non-news writer category for his work with "SoCal Connected" on KCET. His piece on Nathaniel Ayers also won best feature segment for "SoCal Connected."

CBS 2 reporter David Goldstein, producer Nicolette Medina and camera person Michael Brandon won in the investigative category for “DWP Drinking on the Job.”

Bryan Hileman of KTLA won for outstanding news director, Gayle Galvez of NBC 4 for outstanding non-news director.

Lindsay Soto of Fox Sports New won for best sports reporting.
