Ben Westhoff, a New Yorker who has written for the Village Voice, NPR, Pitchfork, Spin and XXL has been named the LA Weekly's music editor, replacing Gustavo Turner. Westhoff is the author of "Dirty South," a book on Southern hip-hop published this year, and a book last year on New York City's best dive bars.
