Guarded good news out of San Francisco on Bryan Stow, the victim of that brutal assault at Dodger Stadium on this season's opening day. He is breathing without a ventilator, has moved his left arm and has been able to follow some basic commands, said Dr. Geoff Manley, chief of neurosurgery at San Francisco General Hospital. The advances have occured as doctors wean Stow off the heavy sedatives used to ward off brain seizures. What the docs can't say, unfortunately, is whether he will improve much more.
