I don't think I've seen this sentiment before from Bob Daly, the former Hollywood executive who was managing partner of the Dodgers at the time Frank McCourt came to town in 2003. From the L.A. Times (which misspells Daly's last name):
Fox, myself and MLB made a horrible mistake in not doing the proper due diligence on Frank McCourt. I helped get him approved, and for my piece I feel very bad about it. … He has been an embarrassment to this franchise. The sooner he gets the hell out of town, the better off we'll all be as Dodger fans.
Ouch. BTW, Daly was mentioned in the second LA Observed post that named Frank McCourt, in Oct. 2003. He was called then (by the Times) a tenacious "my way or the highway" kind of guy. Here's the first McCourt mention.
Noted: In a post last September, with the Dodgers then at 72-75 on the year, I observed that the team could free-fall this season into a last place club — given "the roster, the minor league system and the organizational malaise stemming from the McCourts' fight and the revelations about their plundering of the team." With today's loss, they are tied for last with the Padres, 9 games under .500.
