SCI-Arc buys its building finally

sciarc-sign.jpgAfter ten years as a renter, the Southern California Institute of Architecture has bought the century-old former rail freight depot it occupies in the Arts District. The building on Santa Fe Avenue is a quarter of a mile long and only about 37 feet wide. The school has paid $23.1 million for the building it failed to buy earlier, and now says the mortgage payment will be less than the rent it has been paying.
