McCourt responds, mildly defiant

The Dodgers just released a statement from Frank McCourt. Short and sweet:

"Major League Baseball sets strict financial guidelines which all 30 teams must follow. The Dodgers are in compliance with these guidelines. On this basis, it is hard to understand the Commissioner's action today."

Here's what the commissioner did.

On the field: The Dodgers won tonight 6-1 over Atlanta. It was manager Don Mattingly's 50th birthday. Andre Ethier homered and had three hits.

On the web: Channel 4 reporter Conan Nolan writes about being a Giants Fan and a converted Angeleno who's concerned about the Dodgers.

In Anaheim: The Angels finally had to accept that ex-phenom Brandon Wood isn't going to hit, at least for them. He was cut.
