Eric Bauman, the chairman of the Los Angeles County Democratic Party, has posted on Twitter that Justice Carlos Moreno of the California Supreme Court has submitted his resignation to Gov. Jerry Brown.

No media confirmations yet that I can find. Moreno gave up a seat on the U.S. District Court (a Bill Clinton appointee) to take the state Supreme Court seat in 2001. He had previously served on the Compton Municipal Court and the Los Angeles Superior Court (appointed by Pete Wilson.) Moreno had reportedly been considered by the Obama White House for David Souter's seat on the U.S. Supreme Court.
