For the first time in the paper's history, dating to 1927, La Opinión reporters, photographers and videographers voted last week to join a union. They will be part of the Newspaper Guild, which is Local 9400 of the Communications Workers of America. A sign of how small the newsroom has become with budget cuts: the vote was apparently 15-4.
