Journalism students at USC Annenberg have put together a website exploring the two blocks around MacArthur Park, with one focus on the Park Plaza hotel at Park View and 6th Street. It's actually more of a filming location and event spot than a hotel, though it has functioned as a hotel in the past. It's real legacy, though, is as a palace of power in 1920s and 30s Los Angeles as the home of an influential Elks Lodge. I've mentioned it before: it's one of my favorite L.A. buildings, and you've seen it before on TV and in movies even if you haven't attended rock shows and parties there.
