The San Francisco Giants won their first World Series tonight on a clutch three-run home run off Cliff Lee by a new Bay Area hitting star, Edgar Renteria. He finished his second year with the Giants as a bench reserve, but he's actually now had the game-winning hit in two World Series. His hit won the 1997 series for the Florida Marlins when Renteria, from Barranquilla, Colombia, was 22 and just getting started. Teammate Aubrey Huff just called him a "dinosaur" in the clubhouse, but Renteria has had the best career of anyone on the team. He's played 2,000-plus games, collected 2,252 hits, and has been a solid shortstop with some power. When Renteria was handed the series MVP trophy, he wouldn't say whether this is the end for him. Giants win 3-1, the series ends in Texas. The victory parade in San Francisco will be Wednesday.
