That's a lot of outstanding ballots in a race where Kamala Harris leads Steve Cooley by just 9,364 votes (out of 7,215,055 already tabulated.) Plenty left to change the outcome, but Harris' side is buoyed by knowing that something over 400,000 of the uncounted ballots are in Los Angeles County. She out-polled Cooley significantly in Democratic L.A. County, and her people believe the votes still to be counted lean heavily toward late-arriving absentees that would benefit her. Cooley's side also sees reason for optimism, so stay tuned. This could take as long as a month to settle.
