Singer from Tecate has fans at KCRW

carla-morrison1.jpgKCRW's music publicity director, Rachel Reynolds, tweeted this morning that "I kept hearing Carla Morrison's name around the station and now I know what all the fuss is about." Intrigued, I followed her link to a blog post by Ariana Morgenstern, the producer of KCRW's venerable Morning Becomes Eclectic, extolling the young singer from Tecate in Baja California.

Well, after just one listen, I became an instant fan...

Her full length “Mientras Tu Dormias” (While You Were Sleeping) is finally out today and, truth be told, I like to drive around town singing it at the top of my lungs. I’m not alone because, the last three times I’ve dropped my car off at a valet, I’ve been asked what was playing on the stereo when they return!

L.A. will be treated to a special performance this weekend, when Carla returns to LA to play as part of the Dia De Los Muertos festivities at Hollywood Forever Cemetery.

If the knowledgeable music heads are this excited, I have to check it out. There's an audio sample of Morrison's music at the blog post.
