James Franco apparently read D.J. Waldie's memoir about growing up in the Lakewood suburbs while the actor was at UCLA (where he graduated in 2008.) Now Franco has optioned "Holy Land" for a possible movie. Details still to be worked out, Waldie says. Waldie recently retired from a long career with the city of Lakewood. Last I heard he won't be able to take part in our panel at the L.A. Archives Bazaar on Oct. 23 at USC.
