The paper first came out as the Van Nuys Call on Nov. 3, 1911. The Daily News is celebrating next year's 100th anniversary with a series of centennial stories on the paper's and the Valley's history. The Valley may have changed from an agricultural basin into whatever you want to call it today, but the headline on today's story shows how little some things change: Early on, paper acted as booster.
