City Attorney Carmen Trutanich has recommended that the City Council's Board of Referred Powers disqualify the group of restaurants bidding against incumbent LAX concessionaire HMS Host, the LA Weekly says. Trutanich's letter says HMS Host also could be disqualified, an action the Weekly says would benefit Host by delaying the selection process. Host was rated last by the airport staff while the rival bidder, SSP America, was rated the best. Host's top lobbyist, John Ek, is a campaign contributor to Trutanich.
