Last weekend's fatal shooting of 37-year-old Guatemalan Manuel Jamines continues to echo in the news.
- LAPD officer Frank Hernandez, who shot Jamines, was accused in a civil lawsuit earlier this year of shooting a 19-year-old man in the Rampart district in 2008 and lying about him pointing a gun at the officer. The suit is pending in federal court. LA Times
