One of the side notes of this week's McCourt vs. McCourt trial involves the press release the new owners of the Dodgers sent out in 2004 crowing about how Frank and Jamie McCourt had bought the team. It was the return of family ownership after the debacle of Fox, the release implied. All spin, Frank now says: "That was really to harken back to the O'Malley days," Frank testified today. "It was a nicer, more comfortable, warmer way to refer to ownership." Might be fun for somebody to go back and look at which print columnists and which Dodgers-hypers in broadcast media bought into the myth.
