Villaraigosa

Charges against cab driver not appropriate, mayor says *

av-bike-accident-linder.jpgBicycle activists seem to want to make more hay out of Mayor Villaraigosa's weekend mishap, but he told reporters today that police have talked to the taxi driver who may have cut him off and that no action is warranted. Villaraigosa, by the way, says he was wearing a helmet. Michael Linder of KABC Radio posted the photo to TwitPic. (That's KNX's Pete Demetriou in the blue shirt.)

* Now this: DJ Waldie blogs at KCET.org that "there's little in the mayor's character or experience to suggest that he has - at this low point - the reservoirs of commitment and passion with which the process of remaking civic life in Los Angeles could be restarted....The temptation, as the DN implied, is to speak of Villaraigosa in the past tense already." Plus: Slams at Villaraigosa's leadership are the topic of today's "Which Way, L.A." with Warren Olney on KCRW, 7 p.m.
