'Today' show gets the access to Abby

NBC's "Today" show packaged footage of Abby Sunderland at home in Thousand Oaks with a lengthy interview this morning at the studios in New York. Meredith Vieira did the questioning (such as it was) of Abby, her father and brother Zac. In the piece, Abby says she knew she was so far out in the Indian Ocean that it was possible no one would get her call and come rescue her. Before the rogue wave hit, the boat had already been knocked down a few times, but 60-knot winds had eased to 40 knots and she thought the worst was past. She didn't see or hear the wave coming, and at first expected to just be knocked down again — but instead the boat was rolled completely over and she fell onto the ceiling while water came pouring in. Her father admitted that, when they got her come-get-me signal, they weren't sure if the boat was upside down and gave rescuers photos of the boat's hull. The video runs about ten minutes.
