Los Angeles Mag celebrates women in power

Rosalind Wyman, elected to the City Council at 22 in 1953 — and a key player in getting the Dodgers here from Brooklyn — was one of the featured guests last night at Los Angeles Magazine's Women's Leadership reception. Wyman is also featured in the July issue. Others who made appearances included Controller and co-host Wendy Greuel, KCET exec Val Zavala, USC Annenberg School director Geneva Overholser, city planning director Gail Goldberg, County Counsel Andrea Ordin, L.A. Conservancy chief Linda Dishman, author Gina Nahai, literary agent Bonnie Nadell and journalists Patt Morrison, Susan Freudenheim, Shirley Jahad and Celeste Fremon. "The women present were an eclectic mix," Fremon blogged. Fremon also noted Greuel's remark that she, Wyman and Gloria Molina are the only elected Los Angeles officials to get pregnant and have a child while in office.
